Biography:

His father is a social worker Tim (plus occasional actor) Chris and his mother a teacher. They are divorced. He has a younger brother Casey, who is also an actor.

Although born in California, grew up in the town of Cambridge, near Boston, Massachusetts. From child appeared in television series and commercials.

He studied at the University of Vermont and Occidental College in Eagle Rock, California. At this time he became close friends with another aspiring actor named Matt Damon.

His film breakthrough came in the early 90′s, following their participation in the movie “Dazed and Confused” (1993), directed by Richard Linklater. Later he starred in a number of titles independently, collaborating regularly with director Kevin Smith.

His final revelation came when he wrote the screenplay and starred in “Good Will Hunting” (1997). Would be awarded, along with Matt Damon, the Oscar for best original screenplay.

His first girlfriend was Cheyenne Rothman, his partner in the institute. Later had a romance with Gwyneth Paltrow, actress whom he was from 1998 to 2000.

His current partner is singer and actress Jennifer Lopez, who is committed.

Winner of the Oscar and Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay for “Good Will Hunting” (1997).
